Butterflies ~ Mixed Media: Photo & Acrylic on Canvas
This is a collaborative piece where Ivo has used a photo by Michael Scott Adams and painted around it to create a hybrid photo/painting. The painting starts out more photo-realistic in the middle and becomes more playful and fantasy like as it moves toward the edges of the canvas.
I was born in Santiago, Chile and have been a visual Artist for more than 20 years. Throughout my artistic career, I have exhibited in major museums in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and the United States. I was invited for my first solo exhibition in the U.S. in 1992, and in 2000 I was selected to exhibit paintings in the Latin American Art Museum’s 9th Anniversary Show in Miami. Since then I have been producing and exhibiting in the U.S., with my base in Los Angeles, California. In 2003, I was awarded a fellowship through the Foundation Valparaiso Residence program in Almeria, Spain.
Most recently I have focused on large-scale mural paintings. These include a commission for a realistic waterfall for The Roosevelt Building in Downtown L.A. (122 ft high x 30 ft wide) and, most recently, “Venice Beach Sunset” (40 ft high x 110 ft wide) on the side of Venice Suites Hotel, located on the boardwalk in the heart of Venice Beach, Ca. ~ Ivotopia
